New details of Lisa Marie Presley’s relationship with Michael Jackson have emerged in her memoir, From Here to the Great Unknown, released nearly two years after her passing with the help of her daughter, Riley Keough. In the book, Lisa candidly recounts her marriage to Michael Jackson, revealing that he claimed to still be a virgin when they married in 1994. She also shared her initial worries about missteps in the relationship.
Lisa disclosed that she was still married to her first husband, Danny Keough, when her relationship with Michael began. However, she and Danny soon separated after Michael professed his love during a trip to Las Vegas. Michael expressed his desire to marry Lisa and have children, and she soon realised she was in love with him as well.
Though their marriage was brief, following Lisa’s passing in 2023, some of Michael’s family members shared their sorrow. La Toya Jackson, Michael’s sister, expressed gratitude for Lisa’s love for her brother, and Michael’s estate also conveyed their sadness over her tragic loss.
As Riley explains, the memoir aims to capture Lisa’s true essence beyond the public persona tied to her legacy as Elvis Presley’s daughter. Riley hopes to portray her mother as a multifaceted individual—the best mother, a free spirit, a fierce friend, and an underrated artist—bringing forward her voice in a way that eluded her in life.
