Just a month after recalling over 60,000 pounds of breaded chicken products, Suzanna’s Kitchen finds itself once again at the center of a food safety issue. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has announced a new recall, with concerns that some tainted products may still be in consumers’ homes.
As we step into the new year, shoppers are reminded to meticulously check product labels, as consuming the recalled items could pose serious health risks. This alarming situation has once again put the spotlight on the importance of food safety and awareness among consumers.
The latest recall from Suzanna’s Kitchen involves approximately 13,720 pounds of ready-to-eat grilled chicken breast fillet products that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. These affected products, produced on October 14, 2025, include 10-pound cases containing two 5-pound bags of fully cooked grilled chicken breast fillets with rib meat.
The FSIS initiated the recall after a third-party laboratory detected Listeria monocytogenes in a sample of the fully cooked product. While there have been no confirmed illnesses linked to the recalled chicken, health officials are urging anyone experiencing potential symptoms to seek immediate medical attention.
Listeria can be especially dangerous as it can cause a serious infection called listeriosis. While healthy adults may only experience mild symptoms, pregnant individuals, newborns, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems are at higher risk of severe outcomes. The growth of this bacteria in the fridge also highlights the importance of handling ready-to-eat foods with caution.
The recalled items can be identified by the lot code 60104 P1382 287 5 J14 on both the side of the case and the individual grilled chicken breast fillet packages. These products bear establishment number P-1382 inside the USDA mark of inspection and were distributed to food service centers in several states.
For any questions or concerns regarding the recall, consumers can reach out to Dawn Duncan, customer service director at Suzanna’s Kitchen. Additionally, the USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline is available for inquiries about meat and poultry products.
The recent recall from Suzanna’s Kitchen serves as a stark reminder of the importance of food safety measures and the need for vigilance when it comes to consuming food products. Stay informed, stay safe, and make sure to double-check your food labels to avoid any potential risks.
