Six Flags is breaking new ground in a groundbreaking way. This December, Saudi Arabia will introduce Six Flags Qiddiya City, marking the first time a Six Flags park has been created outside of North America. Located near Riyadh, this expansive new park is part of the kingdom’s efforts to establish itself as a global entertainment destination. Alongside Six Flags Qiddiya City, Aquarabia Waterpark is also set to make a splash as one of the largest and most ambitious waterparks in the region.
The debut of these two parks signifies a significant milestone not only for Six Flags but for the development of theme parks on a global scale. Six Flags Qiddiya City will cover approximately 320,000 square meters and will boast 28 rides and attractions, including five coasters designed to break world records.
The standout ride is Falcon’s Flight, aiming to be the tallest, fastest, and longest roller coaster in the world. Offering speeds of up to 250 kilometers per hour and stretching over four kilometers, this ride will run parallel to a professional racetrack, allowing riders to race alongside high-speed cars. Other attractions include the world’s tallest free-fall ride, the tallest pendulum ride, and a triple-launch coaster designed for extreme acceleration.
However, Six Flags Qiddiya City is not just about thrills. The park is divided into six themed “worlds,” offering a range of experiences from a steampunk-inspired zone to family-friendly gardens and puzzle-filled adventure areas. This blend of classic storytelling with large-scale spectacle sets the park apart.
Adjacent to Six Flags Qiddiya City, Aquarabia Waterpark promises its own share of excitement. Planned attractions include what developers claim will be the world’s tallest AquaLoop, a 12-story vertical drop slide, and a massive family play structure with over 180 water features. The park is also being constructed with sustainability in mind, incorporating water recycling systems and minimizing plastic use.
Both parks are part of Qiddiya City, a vast entertainment and sports complex tied to Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 plan to diversify its economy. Once fully operational, the project is expected to draw millions of visitors annually, solidifying Saudi Arabia’s position as a major player in the global theme park industry.
This new development showcases the rapid expansion of the global theme park landscape, with Saudi Arabia stepping into a prominent role.
