Remembering Timothy Very: A Beloved Figure in the Indie Rock Scene

A beloved figure in the indie rock scene has left us today. Timothy Very, the drummer for Manchester Orchestra, passed away at the age of 42. The band confirmed this heartbreaking news on social media, according to Consequence of Sound.

Formed in 2004 in Atlanta, Georgia, Manchester Orchestra has been a staple in the indie rock genre. Timothy Very joined the group in 2011, after the departure of drummer Jeremiah Edmond. The band’s lineup also includes lead singer Andy Hull, lead guitarist Robert McDowell, and bassist Andy Prince.

In a statement, the band expressed their deep sorrow over the loss of their dear friend: “The entire Manchester Orchestra family has been devastated by the sudden passing of our brother, Timothy Very. The most beloved human being any of us were lucky enough to know in this life. We’ve all been dreading sharing this news as we are all still in absolute disbelief.”

A proud father and a talented musician, Very brought his passion and positivity to the band’s albums, “A Black Mile to the Surface” and “The Million Masks of God.” Despite being named after a city in the UK, Manchester Orchestra was born in the American South.

Known for hosting the annual Stuffing Festival, Manchester Orchestra garnered critical acclaim. Their music video for “Simple Math” received two MTV Video Music Award nominations and won Video of the Year and Best Indie/Rock Video at the 2011 UK Music Video Awards.

In addition to his contributions to the band, Very recently launched a podcast called “Timmy’s Timeline,” which delved into his musical journey and career through interviews with industry veterans.

The cause of Timothy Very’s death has not been disclosed, leaving fans and the music community in mourning. His legacy as a talented musician and loving father will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

As we reflect on the life and impact of Timothy Very, we remember him not only for his musical talents but also for the love and joy he brought to those around him. His memory will forever be cherished by the Manchester Orchestra family and fans alike.
