Olivia Rodrigo Says She Went to the Hospital After Scary Onstage Fall

The Vampire singer, Olivia Rodrigo, recently reflected on her unexpected fall through the stage during her GUTS World Tour performance in Melbourne, Australia.

In an October 29 interview on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Rodrigo, 21, recalled the incident with a mix of humour and gratitude. “It was really scary. I mean, watching the video back is pretty terrifying, but the show must go on—that’s show business, baby,” she said, adding that she’s since found a positive angle on the experience.

Following a quick hospital visit to check for a concussion, Rodrigo found herself reflecting on her Filipino heritage. “I’m kind of happy it happened in hindsight,” she shared, explaining how she had just returned from the Philippines, where she was moved by the connection to her family and heritage. After the fall, she was treated by a Filipino nurse with the same name as her recently passed grandfather. “I thought, ‘Wow, that was him looking after me and making sure I didn’t get hurt,’” she said, adding that she now views the moment as a beautiful, almost fateful occurrence.

Rodrigo took the incident in stride, jokingly telling fans after she fell into the stage hole, “Oh my God, that was fun,” before reassuring them with a smile, “I’m okay!”

Her tour wrapped up in Australia, with Rodrigo reflecting on the significance of her show in the Philippines. “I just played my biggest show in the Philippines,” she said at the premiere of her concert film, Olivia Rodrigo: GUTS World Tour, on October 25. “It meant so much to be accepted by that community.”
