NYC Toddler Saved from Choking by NYPD Officers

Every parent fears the nightmare of their child choking, but for one toddler in Queens, New York, that nightmare nearly became a reality. Thanks to the quick actions of two NYPD officers, 10-month-old Makai was saved from choking to death in a close call at his apartment.

The officers responded to a frantic call from the family on October 10, finding the toddler in an unresponsive state due to a blocked airway. Without hesitation, they sprang into action, with one officer skillfully patting the child’s back until the obstruction was dislodged. Makai was then rushed to Elmhurst Hospital Center in an ambulance, where he is now on the road to a full recovery.

Makai’s mother, Asia Rodriguez, expressed her gratitude towards the officers for their swift intervention, emphasizing the importance of every second in saving her son’s life. She hopes to personally thank them and show her appreciation for their heroic actions.

The toddler’s father, Brandon Laboy, echoed his gratitude for the officers’ life-saving skills, emphasizing the importance of proper training in such critical moments. He praised their training and efficiency in a situation where every second counted.
