New Zealand has ended its strict corona virus lockdown rules as it has not recorded any new cases for the past 17 days.
The last patient was a woman in her 50s, who recovered from St. Margaret’s Hospital and Rest Home in Auckland on Monday.
The prime minister, Jacinda Ardern, said,
We have eliminated transmission of the virus for now. While the job is not done. This is a milestone.
New Zealand has now moved to a level 1 alert. The country would allow weddings, funerals, hospitality, and public transport to resume without any restrictions from midnight on Monday. However, New Zealand’s borders will remain closed.
New Zealand recorded 1,147 Corona virus cases and 21 deaths.
