Nebraska Couple Charged in Connection with Death of 4-Month-Old Daughter

In a tragic turn of events, a Nebraska couple, Ryan and Tanya Greenwood, have been charged in connection with the death of their 4-month-old daughter. The heartbreaking incident took place in their Lincoln apartment, where Ryan allegedly shook the infant girl to death, claiming he had been engaging in rough play.

Initial reports indicated that Ryan called 911 after finding his daughter unresponsive, claiming that she had passed away while he was engaged in rough play the day before. However, Tanya shared a different perspective with investigators, stating that she heard the baby crying intensely upon returning from grocery shopping. She wanted to take the baby to the hospital, but Ryan reportedly refused.

Tanya also revealed disturbing details, alleging that she had witnessed Ryan shaking the infant multiple times when he became frustrated. In a chilling discovery, it was revealed that Tanya had searched online for information related to shaken baby syndrome prior to the baby’s tragic death.

Tragically, the 4-month-old baby succumbed to a traumatic brain injury, with medical experts confirming that her injuries were consistent with shaking and were non-accidental. It was also noted that seeking medical attention could have potentially increased the baby’s chances of survival.

Following their arrests, Ryan and Tanya Greenwood are currently being held at the Lancaster County Jail on suspicion of child abuse resulting in death. Their bonds have been set at 10 percent of $1.5 million, with strict conditions prohibiting contact with each other or any minors.
