Michael B. Jordan, the 38-year-old actor turned director, is known for his laser focus and intense work ethic. In a candid conversation with talk show host David Letterman on the Netflix series “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction,” Jordan opens up about his personal life outside of filmmaking. Shot in London during a break from filming the remake of “The Thomas Crown Affair,” which Jordan directs and stars in, the former People’s Sexiest Man Alive talks about slowly working towards starting a family and his surprising love language.
Jordan, who rose to fame with roles in “Fruitvale Station,” the “Creed” films, and “Black Panther,” most recently starred in the 2024 horror-thriller “Sinners” and made his directorial debut with “Creed III.” Despite his busy schedule, Jordan admits to Letterman that there isn’t much time left for his personal life.
In the interview, Jordan reveals that he wants to start small by first getting plants and a dog before eventually starting a family. He expresses his desire to take care of a plant first as a step towards taking care of a dog, and ultimately, children.
Single by design, Jordan’s past relationships, including his high-profile one with model Lori Harvey, have been widely reported. However, Jordan shares that he is currently focused on his work, despite his hopes of starting a family one day.
In each episode of “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction,” Letterman sits down with prominent figures from various fields for candid conversations. Previous guests include Tina Fey, Volodymyr Zelensky, Malala Yousafzai, Jay-Z, Jerry Seinfeld, Caitlin Clark, and Adam Sandler.
The sixth season of the show featuring Michael B. Jordan drops on Netflix on December 16, 2025. Jordan’s remake of “The Thomas Crown Affair” is set for release in 2027. Subscribe to Parade’s daily newsletter for more pop culture news and celebrity interviews.
