Kim Kardashian has updated her divorce paperwork, stating that her marriage with Kanye West is “unsalvageable.”
The actress filed new court papers on Friday, claiming that she wants to separate the question of marital status from the rest of the issues to be heard in this case, and terminate her marital status.
According to her, their children, property issues, and asset distribution should be resolved independently of their marital status, allowing them to be legally single sooner. “I have been attempting to settle our dissolution with [West] since I filed for divorce in February 2021. I have requested several times that [he] agree to bifurcate and terminate our marital status. [He] has not responded to my request,” she said.
Although the divorce hearing for their divorce case has been scheduled for March 22, Kim Kardashian has requested that the courts “grant an early and separate trial on the issue of dissolution of the marital status alone.”
Before this time, the divorce was to be delayed until all other property and custody issues have been resolved.
The document states that “The parties’ marriage has irremediably broken down. [Kardashian] no longer desires to be married to [West]”.
Although West has tried to win back his estranged wife, Kim Kardashian has stated that she “has no interest in reconciling.” She also states that “The continued maintenance of technical marital status between [Kardashian] and [West] serves no useful purpose, and there is no reason to maintain the legal relationship.”
Following reports that she was planning to divorce her husband Kanye West, Kim Kardashian filed for divorce in February. Kim had asked for joint legal and physical custody of the couple’s four children: North, 8, Saint, 6, Chicago, 3, and Psalm 2.
It is still uncertain what will happen to the couple’s four children, as well as their property.
Only time will tell how this all plays out for the famous couple.
