Katy Perry Loses American Idol Judging Spot to Carrie Underwood

Following the underwhelming performance of her latest album, “143,” Katy Perry has reportedly expressed interest in reprising her role as a judge on American Idol.

According to a source speaking to Life & Style, Perry’s desire to return to the show stems from the album’s disappointing sales. “American Idol was a stable opportunity for Katy, and now that her album hasn’t done well, she’s trying to reclaim her spot.”

However, it appears that Carrie Underwood has already filled the vacant judging position.

“Katy’s attempt to return suggests she recognizes her commercial success may be waning,” the source added. “Unless the new season experiences poor ratings, it’s unlikely Katy will regain her spot on the panel.”

Perry had been a judge on American Idol for seven seasons before announcing her departure on May 19, 2024. The show’s official social media account bid her farewell, stating, “We will miss you @katyperry… thanks for 7 memorable seasons! Go fly butterfly…”

As Perry approaches her 40th birthday on October 25, 2024, her focus on revitalizing her music career remains to be seen.
