Jennifer Lopez is ready to turn over a new leaf and leave the Ben Affleck chapter behind. Despite the fresh, spring-like backdrop, the singer-actress has endured what she calls “the biggest heartbreak” of her life yet again. Reflecting on her relationship, JLo revealed in 2022, the year she and Affleck rekindled their romance and got married, that the end of their engagement two decades ago made her feel like she “was going to die.” A similar ending followed Bennifer 2.0 in 2024.
According to an insider who spoke to Life & Style in early October, Lopez is entering a new phase of self-reflection after the split from Affleck, whom she once called “the love of her life.” Having endured four divorces, Lopez is reportedly undergoing a personal transformation: “an all-new JLo is in the making as she wants to start a new chapter.”
Although the split took a toll on her, both personally and professionally, as her three recent projects, including her movie This is Me… Now, failed to resonate with fans, JLo remains determined to emerge stronger. She cancelled her summer concert tour, citing a need to spend time with her family, though reports indicate low ticket sales may have played a role.
Even amidst their separation, Lopez has built close relationships with Affleck’s children, Violet, Fin, and Samuel, while Affleck has reportedly distanced himself from JLo’s twins, Max and Emme. The On the Floor star officially ended her marriage to Affleck by filing for divorce on their second wedding anniversary.
Despite the messy divorce, JLo is focused on turning her heartbreak into strength. “She’s determined to take ownership of any self-destruction and make changes,” a source revealed, adding that she is now embracing a new era of self-love, vowing to “take a break from men – at least for a year.”
Meanwhile, Affleck is reportedly growing tired of being portrayed as “the bad guy” in the relationship. According to sources, the Batman star felt JLo was “super overprotective” and worried that she is sharing too much about his personal struggles, including his history with alcohol abuse.
