Months after making her relationship with orthopaedic surgeon Justin Saliman Instagram-official, Modern Family actress Sofía Vergara recently offered a peek into her dating life. In an interview with Us Weekly published on Oct. 24, when asked if she thinks New York City is the ideal place for romance, Sofía agreed: “Totally.” She went on to say, “Actually, I was talking yesterday about it… because now I’m single.”
At 52, Vergara clarified she’s “kind of single” but didn’t elaborate on her current relationship status with Saliman. As for why she thinks NYC is a prime spot for dating, she noted, “There’s a more diverse group of people in New York than in L.A., because most people [in L.A.] are in the entertainment business.” With New York’s blend of professionals—architects, writers, actors, and businesspeople—Vergara finds the city refreshingly varied.
Vergara and Saliman first sparked dating rumours in late 2023 and went public in April 2024 when she shared a photo on her Instagram Story featuring Saliman holding her bandaged leg after a knee surgery, playfully captioned, “If u ever get a major knee surgery make sure u get a handsome doctor who will sleep with u that night!!!!”
This romance marks Vergara’s first since her split from Joe Manganiello, with whom she filed for divorce in July 2023 after seven years of marriage. She previously joked on The Talk about still having her “J” tattoo, which she now claims can work for Justin too: “Recycle, recycle!”
Manganiello, now dating Caitlin O’Connor, has denied reports that the split was due to differences over children, instead citing that “two people grew apart.”
