During the Fortune Most Powerful Women Summit on October 14, Lizzo revealed that she has been quietly focusing on her shapewear brand, Yitty, and creating new music. The 36-year-old singer, who previously announced a “gap year” on Instagram less than two months ago, clarified: “It ain’t a gap year, it’s a grind year.”
Since the end of her tour in July 2023, Lizzo has concentrated on Yitty, a brand she launched in 2022 in partnership with Fabletics. On her music, she shared that she is “very, very close” to completing a new album. Her most recent release was “Pink”, a song from the Barbie movie soundtrack.
Lizzo has kept a lower profile since 2023, following allegations from former backup dancers. However, she has been cautious about addressing these issues publicly, stating, “This isn’t the space to talk about negative things that happen to powerful women.” On social media, she has emphasized the importance of setting boundaries, saying: “I’ve been cancelled for everything… Only God can cancel me now.”
Lizzo’s dedication to her entrepreneurship and music continues to reflect her commitment to empowerment and creativity.
