The 32-year-old, who is expecting her first baby, recently took a non-invasive prenatal paternity test, which confirmed that Urker is indeed the father, not her ex-husband, Ryan Anderson.
“There’s been a lot of speculation about the paternity of our baby, and while we’ve always known the truth, I feel it’s time to clear the air,” Blanchard shared in a Tuesday, Nov. 5 Instagram post. “Here are the results showing Ken is the father. Ken will be an amazing dad, and we can’t wait to welcome our baby girl. 💗 @fastestlabsofmetairie @kenurker.”
In July, a Louisiana attorney informed PEOPLE that Anderson’s name might appear on the baby’s birth certificate due to a state law that presumes a mother’s spouse (or recent ex-spouse) as the father if a child is conceived during the marriage or within 300 days of a divorce.
Blanchard and Urker announced their pregnancy on July 9, but Blanchard filed for divorce from Anderson in April. Without the finalized divorce and a paternity test, Anderson’s name could have defaulted onto the birth certificate. According to the law, Urker’s name can only be added if Anderson signs an affidavit confirming Urker’s paternity. Otherwise, Urker may need to go through a court process to establish paternity, including DNA testing for all parties, which has now been done.
Blanchard has spoken openly about rekindling her relationship with Urker. While in prison, the two had developed a close relationship after starting as pen pals. Urker proposed to her in 2018, though they parted ways before her 2023 release. At that time, Blanchard was married to Anderson, whom she had wed during her incarceration.
She explained, “Ken and I reconnected as friends. It wasn’t like I just jumped out of a marriage. We kept a friendship for years while he was in a relationship and I was with Ryan. We respected our separate lives.”
Since her release and rekindling their relationship, Blanchard and Urker discussed their plans on Nick Viall’s podcast, The Viall Files. Due to her parole restrictions, Blanchard currently lives with her family in Cut Off, Louisiana, an hour away from Urker, meaning they’ll have to navigate co-parenting separately for now.
“We’re figuring out how this will work once the baby is born,” Blanchard said. “It’ll be a sort of co-parenting arrangement, even though we’re together.”
