Elvis Presley’s stage presence is electrifying, captured from a unique angle in a new poster celebrating Baz Luhrmann’s latest project, EPiC.
Released on Dec. 18, the poster showcases an image of Presley from behind, framed by dramatic stage spotlights. Wearing one of his iconic jumpsuits, he gazes off to the side, exuding his trademark charisma.
Titled “EPiC: ELVIS PRESLEY IN CONCERT”, the teaser caption promises a one-of-a-kind cinematic experience featuring never-before-seen footage discovered by Academy Award-nominated Baz Luhrmann. According to Rolling Stone, the film includes rare footage from 1972’s Elvis on Tour and 8mm footage from the Graceland archive.
Presley’s fans eagerly responded to the Instagram post sharing their excitement about the upcoming movie. Many expressed their anticipation for a film that captures the essence of the King’s legendary stage presence.
The Westgate Las Vegas, where Presley performed a seven-year residency from 1969 to 1976, also commented on the post, proud to be associated with a project revisiting the iconic musician’s legacy.
In the official trailer for EPiC, Presley is heard addressing the media’s portrayal of him, stating, “There’s been a lot written and a lot said, but never from my side of the story.” The trailer hints at the discovery of lost footage from Presley’s 1969 Las Vegas residency, promising a unique viewing experience.
Filmmaker Baz Luhrmann describes EPiC as neither a documentary nor a concert film, aiming to create something new within the Elvis canon. Unused footage from Elvis: That’s the Way It Is and Elvis on Tour forms the basis of the documentary.
EPiC: ELVIS PRESLEY IN CONCERT is set to be released in IMAX on Feb. 20 and in theaters on Feb. 27, promising fans a fresh perspective on the iconic musician’s life and career.
