Chris Poland: Embracing Unfinished Business

Chris Poland, former guitarist of Megadeth, is embracing a new chapter in his career. The renowned musician is stepping out of the spotlight to share his story through the pages of a book, revealing his unfinished business with his former bandmate Dave Mustaine.

In a recent interview with U.K. broadcaster Paul Stephenson for VRP Rocks, the 68-year-old artist discussed his latest projects and shed light on the issues he has been addressing regarding his time with Megadeth. Formed in the early 1980s in California, Megadeth rose to fame in the 1990s, with Poland joining the band as their guitarist before internal conflicts led to his departure.

Poland’s departure from Megadeth in 1985 and again in 1987, after the conclusion of their world tour, was reportedly linked to the track “Liar,” a diss aimed at Mustaine. Despite the impact on his reputation, Poland emphasizes that it did not sway his devoted audience of instrumental fusion music enthusiasts.

Reflecting on the past, Poland expressed that he holds no grudges towards Mustaine and has moved forward from the situation. As he works on an upcoming book with music journalist Matt Herring, the musician plans to address some of the things Mustaine has said about him over the years, emphasizing that much of it is untrue.

Acknowledging the late Nick Menza’s influence on his journey towards peace and forgiveness, Poland’s memoir is set to encapsulate his experiences with Megadeth and his personal growth. With the book nearing its completion, an official release date is yet to be announced.

Chris Poland’s introspective approach to his past with Megadeth offers a glimpse into the complexities of his musical career and personal evolution. Through his upcoming book, he aims to set the record straight while embracing a sense of closure and moving forward with grace and authenticity.
