Earlier Years
Pokamine, born in Morocco, moved to Quebec, Canada, since her parents were professors who emigrated. She spent her childhood in St. Catharines, Ontario.
Mo, her elder brother by three years, gave her all his Game Boy, Nintendo DS, and Wii cartridges and games. In middle school, Anys started playing MapleStory and Endless Online, two massively multiplayer online games. She liked to customize her character and hang out with other players.

Anys started streaming on Twitch in June 2013—later that year, after reaching Platinum status in League of Legends.
She adopted Pokimane, combining her given name, Imane, and the Pokémon franchise.

She became the most popular Twitch streamer in 2017 and was nominated Best of Show at the Shorty Awards.
