Yes Unveils New Single “Turnaround Situation” from Upcoming Album Aurora

Yes, the iconic progressive rock band Yes, originally formed in London in 1968 and known for their chart-topping success during the 1970s, has recently unveiled their latest single, “Turnaround Situation,” from their upcoming album Aurora, scheduled to be released on June 12th.

This new track marks the band’s second single from the album, following the title song “Aurora,” which was released earlier. With this being their 24th studio release, Yes maintains a legacy of creating new music that spans over five decades, despite facing major lineup changes and the loss of key members from their classic era.

Lead vocalist Jon Davison shared the meaning behind the song, stating, “I’ve taken the wrong road before. Most people have. There’s always a temporary thrill in it, but eventually it catches up with you.” Describing the song as a mix of confession and redemption, it focuses on the pivotal moment when an individual decides to no longer ignore their conscience.

The upcoming album Aurora continues Yes’s tradition of studio releases that began with their self-titled debut in 1969. The band has solidified its place as one of the most notable names in progressive rock, with influential albums like Fragile and Close to the Edge shaping the genre.

The current lineup featuring guitarist Steve Howe, keyboardist Geoff Downes, bassist Billy Sherwood, drummer Jay Schellen, and vocalist Jon Davison worked together remotely to create the album, reflecting their adaptability to changes in recording methods over time.

Among the tracks on Aurora are “Turnaround Situation,” “Love Lies Dreaming,” “Countermovement,” and more, showcasing the band’s continued evolution in sound and style.

Despite lineup changes and musical shifts over the years, Yes has remained active in recording new material. With over 20 full-time members throughout its history, the band has seen commercial success in various eras, including chart-topping hits like “Owner of a Lonely Heart.”

Today, Yes continues to push boundaries in the progressive rock genre, blending their classic sound with modern production styles. Their enduring influence in the music industry remains as strong as ever, as they navigate the ever-changing landscape of rock music.
