Music would always be a part of the world. For women, music can be both a source of healing and a reminder that we are considered less.
However, it is important to document the women musicians whose music have empowered other women or have been simply enjoyed.
In our latest listicle, Urban Woman Magazine asked some Nigerian women to share their favourite female musicians.
Read their responses below.

– I love Omawumi a lot. It’s her voice, her sincerity through music, and how anyone, whether rich or poor, can understand and relate to her music.
– I love Asa! Her voice is unique, lyrics are intentional, and the fact that she plays the guitar. 😫😍❤️❤️
– I really like to listen to WAJE sing. Her voice is distinct, and she’s a beautiful woman.
– I like Niyola. Fire vocals and beautiful music.
– On the Gospel side, I looooveeee Sinach! Her voice is unique and her lyrics are not the regular, everyday- repeated ones we normally hear. She also carries herself with so much grace and I love that. ❤️
– I like JudiKay also. The texture of her voice is great. Love the soulfulness too.
– I like Tiwa Savage because of her voice (it’s sooo beautiful) and charisma.
– Recently, I started to like GoodGirl LA a lot, especially because of her “GoodGirl” track. I like how daring she is. She also strikes me as a feminist especially when I watch her TikToks. . . even her music.
– I like Qing Madi. She’s young and killing it, her vocals are amazing. ❤️

MAKA, Viveeyan, Kohsea, Kaliné, Kaey, Eikobaby, Valentino Rose, KOLD AF, (All Indie Vibe House Party queens) and my personal honorable mention: The queen Eva Alordiah.
There’s also me. Apart from my song in the Tales We Tell At Home album, I did backing vocals on Kohsea’s No Rules.
