R. Kelly’s Daughter Alleges Childhood Abuse by Singer in New Documentary

R. Kelly’s appeal of his 2022 federal conviction on charges involving child sexual abuse material and raping underage girls was declined by the United States Supreme Court in October 2024.

He is currently serving a 30-year sentence for sex trafficking and racketeering convictions in New York, running concurrently with his 20-year sentence for the 2022 convictions.

R. Kelly’s daughter, Buku Abi, has come forward with abuse allegations in the documentary “R. Kelly’s Karma: A Daughter’s Journey.”

Abi, whose legal name is Joann Kelly, details the alleged abuse she suffered at the hands of her father, starting when she was around 8 or 9 years old. She shares her story to raise awareness and find peace.

Abi’s siblings, Robert Kelly Jr. and Jaah Kelly, also share their thoughts on their father’s actions. Robert believes his father is where he belongs, and Jaah agrees, stating, “You make your bed, you lay in it.”

Andrea Kelly, R. Kelly’s ex-wife and the mother of his children, also shares her story of alleged abuse in the documentary.
