Miley Cyrus Reflects on Malibu Fire as a “Blessing” at Visual Album Preview

Singer Miley Cyrus shared a positive perspective on a difficult past event during a preview screening of her upcoming visual album, Something Beautiful, in New York City on Monday, May 6th.

During a Q&A session with a longtime fan, Cyrus was asked what advice she would give her younger self. She responded by reflecting on the devastating fire that destroyed her Malibu home in 2018, which she shared with her then-husband Liam Hemsworth.

“When my house burned down, that was the biggest blessing I’ve ever had in my life, actually,” Cyrus stated.

She explained that “losing everything and being able to rebuild” allowed her to be more intentional about the possessions and people in her life.

Cyrus also noted that the fire led to the end of some relationships, which ultimately paved the way for “such magic and to have so much gratitude.”

The fire occurred in November 2018 amidst widespread California wildfires. Cyrus and Hemsworth married the following month but later separated in August 2019.

At the screening, Cyrus emphasized the importance of appreciating difficult times, saying, “I think what I would have told my younger self is to appreciate those darker times because, like I said, they are only leading you into the light.”

She expressed her excitement for her younger self to experience the Something Beautiful era and hopes her passion for the project resonates with her fans.

“This album has to start with me loving it,” she said, “and then the love that I have for it… it’s gonna be coming through the speakers when you’re listening.”

Cyrus also spoke about the special bond she shares with her fans, many of whom have supported her since her Hannah Montana days.

She acknowledged that they have “grown up together” and that this shared history contributes to the magic of her new visual album.

She shared anecdotes about the unique connection she has with her fanbase, where they share memories of even personal moments like her house burning down or the passing of her pet fish, Pablow.
