Background
Don and Hilda Pollard’s oldest daughter, Pollard, was born in Nottingham. When she was six years old, she had her acting debut in a school nativity play, playing the role of an angel.
She went to Hyson Green’s Berridge Road School and Nottingham Girls’ Academy’s Peveril Bilateral School on Robin’s Wood Road. She quit school at sixteen and started singing in working men’s clubs and charity concerts while working as a shorthand typist for the Tennant Rubber Company in Carlton.
Career
Performing “I Cain’t Say No” from Oklahoma! on Opportunity Knocks in 1974, Pollard finished second place behind a singing Jack Russell after completing his apprenticeship at the Arts Theatre in Nottingham.
Pollard made her acting debut in the 1979 BBC series Two Up, Two Down, playing the part of Flo, a hippie. Her theatrical debut in Hi De Hi!—The Holiday Musical was a smashing success, and she was joined by almost every cast member from the hit TV show for sold-out runs in Bournemouth, London, and Blackpool.

Pollard voiced Noisy in Little Robots and had a cameo in 2001’s Gimme Gimme Gimme. She gave three performances of Songs of Praise in 2001.
