Chemena Kamali is a 41-year-old fashion designer who was recently appointed as the new creative director of Chloé, a French fashion house.
Education
She was born in Düsseldorf, Germany in 1981 and studied fashion design at the Trier University of Applied Sciences. She later graduated from Central Saint Martins, a constituent college of the University of the Arts in London, in 2007.
Career
Kamali began her career at Chloé as part of Phoebe Philo’s team and later rejoined as design director under Clare Waight Keller in 2013. She has also worked at Alberta Ferretti and Strenesse in Milan and most recently worked as a consultant for the LA-based denim brand Frame.
Kamali’s appointment as creative director of Chloé is a full-circle moment for her, as it is where she began her career and her heart has always been with the brand.
