Tate McRae – Age, Family, Bio

Tate McRae is a singer and songwriter born July 1, 2003, in Calgary, Canada.

Canadian dancer, singer, and composer Tate Rosner McRae came into this world on July 1, 2003. She became famous in 2016 when she became the first Canadian to reach the finals of the American dance reality show So You Think You Can Dance when she was thirteen.

Early Years

Tate McRae was born to parents who were both Canadian and of German origin. She lived in Oman for three years with her family when her father’s job sent them there when she was four years old; her mother taught dancing.

McRae went to The American International School of Muscat (TAISM) when she was in Oman. McRae started taking dancing classes for fun when she was six years old. She started dancing seriously upon her return to Calgary at the age of eight and went on to compete with Drewitz Dance Productions.

At eleven, she started dancing lessons at her mother’s dance business, YYC Dance Project, where she learned several dance forms. Later, she proceeded to the School of Alberta Ballet, which trains the Alberta Ballet business for ballet. McRae completed her high school education 2022 online at Western Canada High School.

Career

During her dance career (2013–2018), McRae won the “Mini Best Female Dancer” title at the New York City Dance Awards. She became a spokesperson for the American dancewear business Capezio after rising to fame.

She advanced to the finals at the 2014 National Gala of the New York City Dance Alliance.

In addition, she provided the voice of Spot Splatter Splash for the Lalaloopsy series from 2013 to 2015.

After taking home silver and bronze in solo and duet performances at the 2015 Youth America Grand Prix, McRae was given a two-week scholarship to train with the Berlin State Ballet.

She made an appearance while Justin Bieber was performing “Children” during his 2016 Purpose World Tour event in Calgary. As a DancerPalooza group member, McRae appeared on Ellen DeGeneres’s show in April 2016.

She competed in the thirteenth season of the American dance competition program, So You Think You Can Dance in June 2016. American dancer and actress Kathryn McCormick taught her as she competed for the America’s Favourite Dancer title as a non-American. She placed third in the final episode and went further in the competition than any other Canadian in the program’s history.

In April 2017, she graced the cover of Dance Spirit Magazine.

Following her songs’ success on the internet, notably 2017’s “One Day” and her 2019 signing with RCA Records, McRae published her first extended play (EP), All the Things I Never Said (2020), in January 2020. Her 2020 song “You Broke Me First” reached number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became a worldwide smash. On Forbes’ 30 Under 30 list in 2021, McRae made history as the youngest artist to be listed.

Too Young to Be Sad, her second extended play (2021), had the highest number of female EP streams that year on Spotify. I Used to Think I Could Fly (2022) was her first studio album, and it was well-received by critics. It reached number thirteen on the US Billboard 200 and was in the top 10 in many countries.

As McRae shifted her image to be more pop-oriented, her most commercially successful track, “Greedy” (released in 2023), reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100 and the top of the Canadian Hot 100. Both “Exes” and her second studio album, Think Later (2023), reached number nine and number thirty-four on the charts, respectively, after its release. Think Later debuted in the top five in many countries.
