Aubrey O’Day, who was previously signed to Sean “Diddy” Combs’ Bad Boy Records, has strongly criticized the rapper for having his children present during the graphic testimonies of his sex trafficking trial.
Speaking on Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes’ podcast on Friday, the former Danity Kane singer, 41, described Combs’ decision as “selfish.”
She expressed disbelief that any father would want his six of seven children to hear the explicit details of his alleged sexual activities.
“The fact that the kids are marching up to that court, praying over everything and walking in with a bunch of women also that are encouraging it,” O’Day stated.
She then detailed the disturbing nature of the testimony, questioning if any parent would want their children to hear such things about their father.
O’Day suggested that having the children in court was a strategic move by the defense, an “optics game” aimed at influencing the jury.
She emphasized that Combs should prioritize his role as a father, particularly considering his 18-year-old twin daughters are close in age to Cassie Ventura when Combs allegedly began his relationship with her.
“You’re a father first and as a father, I just wouldn’t want my two girls that are only a year younger than [Casandra ‘Cassie’ Ventura] was when he started dating her, 19,” O’Day said, referring to Combs’ daughters Jesse and D’Lila. “I would not ever want my child to hear anything like that.”
O’Day concluded that Combs’ actions demonstrated “narcissism and ego and dare I say coercion,” prioritizing his own needs over the well-being of his children by making them sit through such difficult testimony.
“It means that daddy’s being selfish and he needs in my opinion it feels like, ‘Daddy needs you in court because daddy needs all the optics to look in his favor,’ and I don’t really care what you have to sit through,” she asserted.
