Tems, the Grammy Award winner, now holds the record for the highest streaming day on Spotify by a Nigerian female artist.
She finally dropped her first album ‘Born In The Wild’ on Friday.
The album garnered 5.33 million global streams on its debut day.
Combining this with her other works on the platform, Tems achieved a remarkable 8.028 million streams, setting a new record for a Nigerian female artist.
‘Born In The Wild’ features collaborations with Asake on ‘Get It Right’ and J. Cole on ‘Free Fall’. It also includes previously released singles like ‘Me & U’ and ‘Love Me Jeje’.
This album comes after a three-year gap since her last EP ‘If Orange Was a Place’.
Tems, born Temilade Openiyi, gained fame in 2020 with her hit collaboration ‘Essence’ with Wizkid. She also released her debut EP ‘For Broken Ears’ in the same year.
In February 2023, Tems bgged her first Grammy award. She secured the ‘Best Melodic Rap Performance’ title for her contribution to ‘Wait for U’, the 2022 hit track by Future featuring Drake.
Following that, in March, she received the ‘Breakthrough Award’ at the 2024 Billboard Women in Music Awards.
