Sarah Jessica Parker, the star of “And Just Like That…”, was noticeably absent from the 2025 Met Gala on Monday, May 5th.
The actress, 60, revealed her reason for missing the high-profile event in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight: she had to work.
Speaking at the Cultured Magazine Cult 100 event on Friday, May 2nd, Parker told ET’s Rachel Smith, “I have to work.”
Despite not being present, she expressed her anticipation for seeing how attendees interpreted this year’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” and the creativity they would bring to their looks.
Even though she couldn’t be at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Parker stayed connected with fans by sharing New York Knicks highlights on her Instagram Stories, celebrating the team’s playoff victory over the Boston Celtics.
While Parker missed this year’s event, she is a Met Gala veteran with a history of memorable appearances.
Her most recent attendance was in 2024, marking her 12th time at the event, where she wore a striking Richard Quinn gown for the “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” theme.
She has even co-chaired the prestigious event in the past, notably in 2014 for the “Charles James: Beyond Fashion” theme.
