Rhian Louise Teasdale is a musician born in England on March 17, 1993. She has some singles named “Rhain” and is famous for her work with Wet Leg, the musical band.
Earlier years
Rhian Louise Teasdale was born in Formby, but her family relocated to the Isle of Wight when she was eight. Her paternal grandparents served in the merchant navy. Teasdale decided to pursue a Btec in music instead of continuing with her A-levels. She met her future bandmate Hester Chambers at the Isle of Wight’s Platform One music college, where they both loved the music of Laura Marling, Patrick Watson, and the Nordic countries.
Career
While riding a Ferris wheel at the 2018 End of the Road Festival on September 2nd, Teasdale and Hester, who had previously played guitar and piano in each other’s songs, agreed to create Wet Leg.
After recording ten songs in April 2021 with Dan Carey as producer, the band signed with Domino Recording Company in June 2021. Jon McMullen produced “Chaise Longue,” written during Christmas 2019 while Teasdale stayed at Chambers’ and her boyfriend’s house. A music video was also released for the song.
By the time “Wet Dream” was published on September 28, 2021, the song “Chaise Longue” had already racked up over three million streams and over a million video views. Written about an obnoxious ex-boyfriend who loved bombing Teasdale even after they broke up, “Wet Dream” is about how annoying he was.
Their first album, Wet Leg, was revealed on November 29, 2021, and the duo released the singles “Too Late Now” and “Oh No” on both sides of the record. Their next single, “Angelica,” was produced by Josh Mobaraki and released on February 28, 2022.
Some have likened Teasdale’s singing style to Joanna Newsom, Bjork, or Kate Bush. Teasdale said in an interview from December 2016 that she listened to a wide variety of musicians when she was a youngster, including Bjork, Joni Mitchell, Scout Niblett, Devendra Banhart, The Bees, Arcade Fire, and A Tribe Called Quest.
Private Life
Teasdale identified as “queer…querying?” and boasted of having “a pretty good-looking girlfriend” in July 2022. As stated in a story published in The Sunday Times the following July 2022, Douglas Richards made claims about Teasdale’s private life and Wet Leg. Among these claims was that Richards and Teasdale had an on-again, off-again relationship from 2013 to 2019
Richards was faced with accusations of sexism by Tom Taylor of Far Out magazine and Chloe Laws of Glamour magazine in response.
Hester and Teasdale jokingly say they are now married since they have a close relationship.
