Brenda Song was born on March 27, 1988, in Carmichael, California, USA. She was born to a Thai father and a Thai Hmong mother in Carmichael, California, a suburb of Sacramento. Growing up in a culturally rich household, she was influenced by her parents’ backgrounds, with her father working as a school teacher and her mother as a housewife. 

Song has two younger brothers, Timmy and Nathan. At six, she moved to Los Angeles with her mother to pursue acting, while the rest of the family joined them two years later. Initially interested in ballet, she switched to taekwondo, earning a black belt despite her initial reluctance. 

She is an academically gifted student, was homeschooled, and graduated high school at 16. She later attended the University of California, Berkeley, where she majored in psychology and minored in business, graduating in 2009.

Career

Brenda’s career in entertainment began when she was five years old and scouted in a shopping mall. This led to her first role in a Little Caesars commercial. She made her acting debut in the 1995 sitcom Thunder Alley and quickly gained attention for her talent.

Notable early roles included appearances in Fudge and the Nickelodeon series 100 Deeds for Eddie McDowd. Her breakout role came in 2000 with the Disney Channel Original Movie The Ultimate Christmas Present, which won her a Young Artist Award for Best Performance.

From 2005 to 2011, Song portrayed the wealthy and whimsical London Tipton in the Disney Channel series The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, which earned her significant acclaim. She reprised this role in the spin-off The Suite Life on Deck and showcased her versatility by lending her voice to Anne Boonchuy in the Disney animated series Amphibia (2019-2022). 

Brenda made her mark in mainstream cinema with her role in the critically acclaimed film The Social Network (2010), where she played the character of Christy Lee. Her filmography includes notable projects such as Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior, Like Mike, and the psychological thriller Secret Obsession (2019). She has headlined various series and films, continuously showcasing her acting prowess across genres.

Personal Life

Brenda Song has had a few notable relationships throughout her life. She was once engaged to musician Trace Cyrus, but the couple ended their engagement before marriage. 

In 2017, she began dating former child star Macaulay Culkin. The couple welcomed their first child, a son named Dakota, on April 5, 2021. They became engaged in January 2022 and welcomed their second child in late 2022.

Brenda is known for her strong friendships in the industry, including her bond with Ashley Tisdale, whom she met while working on the Disney Channel.
