Miley Cyrus has revealed she suffered a terrifying health emergency while co-hosting her New Year’s Eve special with Dolly Parton to ring in 2023.
The “Flowers” singer, 32, shared on “The Zane Lowe Show” this week that she experienced an ovarian cyst rupture during the NBC special.
“I had a medical emergency. I had an ovarian cyst rupture, which we didn’t know exactly what was going on, but it was pretty traumatic, cause it was extremely excruciating,” Cyrus recalled.
Despite the intense pain, Cyrus stated she “did [the] show anyway” even though “it was really, really hard on me.”
The “Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party,” executive produced by Lorne Michaels, featured guests like Sia, David Byrne, and Paris Hilton.
Cyrus also shared a pivotal conversation she had with Michaels, 80, after the incident. “I had dinner with Lorne and he said something that now has stuck with me,” Miley shared.
“He goes, ‘Six months—everybody has six months to feel sorry for themselves and then we start to rebuild.'”
She noted that by then, it was Christmas, past her allotted “shut down” time. “He’s like, ‘You have no idea how many artists have sat in this chair and told me that they were quitting music. Everyone does this. Everyone has these traumatic experiences.'”
