Jamie Clayton is a 42-year-old American actress, model, and media personality best known for starring as Nomi Marks in the Netflix series sense8, Sasha Booker in Designated Survivor and Tess Van De Berg in Showtime’s The L Word: Generation Q. Jamie is also a vocal advocate and supporter of the LGBTQ+ community.

Early life

The actress was born Sebastian Elvira, on 15th January 1978 in San Diego, California, USA. She later underwent gender reassignment in 2003 at the age of 25. Jamie Clayton spent her early years in San Diego with her parents, Howard and Shelley. Her father worked as a defence attorney while her mother was an event planner. She also had a sister named Toni.

Career

Jamie worked as a makeup artist before she became an actress. When Jamie was nineteen, she moved to New York City to become a makeup artist. In 2010, she got a job hosting a makeup show on VH1 called TRANSform Me.

In 2015, Jamie had her big break when she was cast as Nomi Marks in the Netflix original series Sense8. Nomi is a transgender political blogger and hacker based in San Francisco. This role was followed by another significant part in the 2016 psychological horror film The Neon Demon, where Clayton starred alongside Christina Hendrick, Keanu Reeves, Elle Fanning and Jena Malone.
