Born on June 26, 1995, in Derry, Northern Ireland, Sally Brown grew up in the village of Ballykelly. She was born with dysmelia in her lower arms, which meant that her left arm did not develop below the elbow.
Despite this, Sally took up athletics at nine, and her natural talent quickly shone through. By age 15, she was fast-tracked into a Great Britain training camp and competed at the 2011 IPC World Championships in New Zealand, reaching the finals in the 100m and 200m T46 sprints.
