Meghan Markle credits her college theater studies for surprisingly preparing her to be a founder.
On the latest episode of her “Confessions of a Female Founder” podcast, the Duchess of Sussex, 43, discussed with Heather Hasson of FIGS medical scrubs how her time at Northwestern University shaped her.
“I was a theater major, and part of the program was that you couldn’t just do the acting,” Meghan explained.
“You had to do soup-to-nuts, every part of what a production would entail, which I actually think is incredible training for when you’re running a team because you appreciate what the sound person does and what the lighting person does.”
She further elaborated, “Wardrobe department and sewing were part of it too, so I am comfortable with a sewing machine,” linking it to Hasson’s beginnings in the scrubs industry.
At Northwestern, Meghan pursued a double major in theater and international relations. Before marrying Prince Harry in 2018 and stepping away from acting, she was known for her role in “Suits” and other acting projects.
This isn’t the first time Meghan has reflected on her university experience on her podcast.
In a previous episode, she shared with her friend Kadi Lee about the challenges of styling her hair while living in the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority house, recalling using a flat iron that heated on a stove and the curious reactions of her non-Black sorority sisters to the smell of her hair burning.
