The highly anticipated HEAR WORD! stage play returns to Lagos this December 28, 29 & 30th, 2018 (MUSON Center) as part of an international tour which includes New York, California and Hamburg, Germany.
The critically acclaimed woman empowerment play shares generational stories highlighting political, social and cultural factors that limit the lives of women.
Following sold out performances at Harvard University’s Tony-prize winning American Repertory Theater, HEAR WORD! has once again been invited to perform internationally.
The amazing cast will begin the tour in Lagos with five shows at MUSON Center, then travel to New York, to perform six shows at the world renowned Public Theater in New York City (January 3-7, 2019). The team will then cross the USA to showcase at the Segerstrom Center in California (January 10-12, 2019) before heading to Thalia Theater in Hamburg, Germany.
The show stars ten incredible Nigerian actresses including Nollywood’s Joke Silva, Taiwo Ajai-Lycett, Elvina Ibru, Ufuoma McDermott, Omonor, Zara Udofia-Ejoh, Rita Edward, Odenike, Debbie Ohiri and Oluchi Odii.
“The play is based on real-life experiences of Nigerian women, we aim to highlight their voices and hope to inspire real change” says director and co-writer, Ifeoma Fafunwa.
HEAR WORD! is produced by iOpenEye, a Nigerian production company that utilizes performance art to challenge the status quo and inspire social change.
