Lovie Smith\u2019s wife is MaryAnne Smith, who he has been married to for 42 years. MaryAnne Smith was born on 18 January 1959 and grew up in Des Plaines, Illinois. She graduated from Forest View High in 1977 and went to the University of Tulsa, where she met her future husband.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The couple actually met on a blind date at a pizza parlour. In an interview with the Chicago Tribune<\/a>, MaryAnne said: \u201cI was a sophomore and he was a junior. He drank root beer. He is a very quiet man and unassuming but very strong.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She added: \u201cI knew that night we were going to get married. We got engaged a month later. I had never been in love with anyone before and I wasn\u2019t letting him go. He\u2019s my Lovie Lee. We got married when we were still in school.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Smith\u2019s mother suffered from diabetes before her death in 2011, and Lovie and MaryAnne helped raise thousands of dollars for the American Diabetes Association. They also have the Lovie And MaryAnne Smith Foundation, which provides educational opportunities to young people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
