Winifred Chika-Ezeagu: Makeup Is Art!!!

Makeup – An Art? Art is where the heart is, and your ability to change and create anything is art. It’s the expression of creative skill through a visual medium such as painting.

Many may not appreciate make-up for what it is, and even a portion of the population still see the use of cosmetics as a vain attempt by a person to change who they are and what features they were born with, however, the essence of this article is to completely demolish that old school belief.

Some people say applying makeup is just another thing we women do so we can spend money on “something “, bla bla bla.

I, for one, do not see makeup as just a form of beauty enhancement but also as a form of expressing emotion. Making up is the process in which an artist uses the human body to portray different expressions to an audience.

Being a makeup artist is much more than just enhancing features on the face, being a makeup artist is being able to make art with a face. Believe me, it is harder than creating art from paper or clay, with paper and clay, you can start on a blank page, but on a face, you have to learn to work with what is on there.

Look at it this way, makeup is like a cover to a book, what matters is what the story is about and we just get to decorate the cover.
Much like those who love painting, drawing, sketching, pottery, drama, and photography, makeup artists love what they do.”A creative soul cannot be kept still for very long”.

Art is groundbreaking and thought-provoking, therefore MAKEUP IS ART! What do you think?
