Skinny Girl In Transit Season 5 Episode 7 – What Really Matters

First of all, I think the title of Skinny Girl In Transit Season 5 Episode 7 is quite disconnected from what we saw in it. Especially since it isn’t like everything is finally falling into place yet.

But that is not the reason why we are here.

In my opinion, this episode had some scenes that were quite unnecessary. The way it is going, this wedding will take forever to plan.

For the life of me, I still do not get why Derin does not like Tiwa. I mean, Tiwa is about to become family, she should cut her some slack already.

This Farida seems like the typical docile woman who would do anything her man wants at the expense of herself. Seriously, that is boring and Mohammed cannot find that appealing at all.

Now, the main gist that brought us here in the first place…

I wonder what Iya Tiwa would say and how she would react when she hears that Tiwa is pregnant.  Did you see the look on her face when her friend, the fabric seller suggested the possibility to her?

She was first shocked, then proceeded to say, “Omo ti a bi ninu ile Kristiani, ko possible!” meaning, “The child we gave birth to in a Christian home? It is not possible!”.

This made me laugh so hard. It brought to mind the fact that most Nigerian parents are in denial or oblivious of today’s realities.

Digressing a bit, a friend of mine once told me that her mother kept asking her boyfriend for money to pay this bill or that. One day, she asked her mother why she thought the boyfriend was doing all that, or what was special about her, that he spent that huge amount of money on paying her family bills per month.

Her mother was shocked with what her daughter was insinuating.

This is not to say that you owe a man your body because he pays your bills. Neither am I saying that premarital sex is the best way to go (By all means, do you honey!).

All I am saying is parents need to stop assuming and actually start having such conversations with their children. I believe every mother should know what goes on in her daughter’s life, but it is a right you have to earn, and you won’t earn it by being a character like Mama Tiwa.

Now, I cannot wait for episode 8. It is always beautiful watching the reaction of a man who has just heard he is going to be expecting a baby from the woman he loves.
