BBC Media Action Nigeria presents Online Conversation How We #NoSidonLook

For many years, the pupils of Obele Odan primary school in Surulere Local Government Area, Lagos state suffered from a lack of infrastructure until the people stepped out and contacted those representing their constituencies. They did not stop there, they also invited the press who took pictures and put them up on various news platforms. Promptly, the government stepped in and renovations began in earnest.

Today, Obele Odan primary school can boast of not just basic infrastructure but also improved learning aids.
A member of the Obele Community shares his story through the BBC Media Action Nigeria’s multimedia online conversation tagged #NoSidonLook.

1. Meetings: Get the members of your community to meet in respect of the problem you are facing.
2. List of Demands: List out the needs in your community in order of priority.
3. Visits: Pay visits. Get the attention of the local government or government authority responsible for fixing that need by either going to the press and/or going to them directly.
